For those of you who are aware of this feature in GUI(How to manage user groups in XP), these is very less you can do about this feature in Vista. I was trying to add on of the user created by one application in my Windows Vista, and I was unable to find the GUI version of group management in it.

This is due to fact that as part of making Windows Vista more secure, Windows have removed that option (or am I wrong?). I have checked with different versions of Windows Vista, apart of only one version, the feature has been disabled. So what one gonna do, if he/she wants to add new user group or wants to add new user to a particular group?

Well here our best and reliable companion command line interface helps us. So you know the commands to add user to a Windows machine and you also know how to assign user to group or how to add new group to machine. Then it is hardly 5 minutes work for you.

However if few of you are left and want to know how to do the stuff, here is an example, how to do it.
1. Open command prompt on your computer. and type “net user”. It will list all the users on your computer.
2. For help on “net user” command type “net user /?” .
3. Add new user with this command “net user abc /add”. If you get this error “System error 5 has occurred. “ Then run cmd as administrator. Anyways after executing the command new user “abc” will be created.
4. To assign the group to new user type in “net localgroup administrators abc /add”. Now this new user adam will be added in local group “administrators” who will be having full admin access to the machine.
Well these are just 2-3 commands, get help with other options by typing “help” along with command name or by command name followed by “/?”. After all we started from command line, right??
